One of the questions we get asked a lot at Singers for Funerals is, how much music do we need at a funeral service? Of course, it's not a question of how much music you need, but how much music you actually want. You can have an entire funeral service without any music at all, if you wish, or you can have as much music as your service timing will allow. |
In a church funeral service, you will usually have at least 45 min of service time, to include whatever religious aspects you require, plus readings, eulogies, and of course music.
However, in a funeral service at a crematorium, you may have as little as 20 minutes available for the entire service, once arrivals and departures have been taken into consideration. Many of our families decide to book a double slot, so they can include everything they wish in the funeral, such as readings, poems and music.
We suggest that families consider music at three main points in the service; arrival, just before committal, and departure, but beyond these points, it's very much a matter of what you consider is right for your and your family.
